Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes

My ex is getting married on a tropical island and our grown kids expect me to go–but not alone. They’ve set me up with a fake boyfriend so I don't look as pathetically single as I really am. I don’t even mind being single. Been there, done that, have the crappy t-shirt to show for it. And I’m up to my ears as it is with my new business. Who has time to date for real?

But when pro hockey god Roman shows up in my private island bungalow declaring we’re not only sharing a bed but spending the entire week together, I slide right into panic mode. Who’s going to believe this gorgeous, famous, muscle-bound athlete would ever date a scatterbrained, hot flashing, insomniac nerd with twenty stubborn extra pounds around the middle?

This trip was supposed to be relaxing, but with Roman dropping to do push-ups every ten minutes and throwing flirty compliments at me, he’s got my hormones twisted up in a whole new way.

I need to remind myself none of this is real and Roman is way out of my league.

So why is he staying up to play cards with me when I can’t sleep, and standing up for me against my ex, and distracting me from my nerves with his oh-so-talented fingers? And why am I beginning to think there’s so much more to this hockey legend than that tough-guy facade and big ego?

If I’m not careful, Roman could have me thinking he’s my shot at a real happily ever after…
